King James Version of the Holy Bible

On this, our initial foray into the blogosphere, we would like to pay tribute to the most influential book in English language history...the King James Version of the Holy Bible first published in 1611.

We are sorry to say we don’t currently have a 1611 copy in stock but we do have two  significant later printing of the King James Version.

The
first is the “HOLY BIBLE” printed by Mark and Charles Kerr, His Majesty’s Printers in Edinburgh,1693 and 1695.  This King James Version published in 1693 includes:

                        - the Old Testament
                        - the Apocrypha
                        - the New Testament
                        - the Index
                       - a Table of Offices and Conditions of Man
                       - a Table of Time
                       - a Table of Weights and Measures
                       - a Table of Kindred and Affinity
                       - the Psalms of David in Metre printed in 1695.

It’s in the original leather binding that shows some wear and the front end paper has some slight tears, else the interior is very good.  It is a very good example of a pulpit sized Bible with no markings except the printed names of the Dodd family (circa 1820s) pasted on the front paste down.                                                                                It is priced at $600.

The second is the “Rembrandt Edition” of the “Holy Bible” published by the Abradale Press in New York in 1959.  This King James Version family Bible is bound in black leatherette with all edges gilt.

The presentation pages for marriages, births, and deaths as well as the the Sermon on the Mount pages were illuminated by artist Fritz Kredel and all presentation pages are unmarked, ready for your family history.

This Bible is Illustrated with 44 color plates and 72 black and white illustrations taken from paintings, drawings or etchings by Rembrandt.  The Old testament consists of 856 pages, the New Testament 276 pages and there are 225 pages of helpful information including maps, a Biblical Encyclopedia and other Reader’s Aides.   It is priced at $125.

We have approximately 2,000 books on display at Toots Creek Antique Mall and another 3,000 in our warehouse so please contact us if you are searching for a specific book.
Thank You!!
